Soliflex, despite its four decades of manufacturing excellence and being a leading producer of Big Bags and Container Liners, lacked a compelling brand story. This made it difficult for the audience to connect with and trust the brand. The challenge was to build a brand that preserved its values and attributes while creating a narrative that resonated with its audience, enhancing trust and credibility.

Stratergy

After a comprehensive brand workshop with the founders, we established Soliflex’s vision, mission, values, purpose, and archetype. Soliflex aims to lead in bulk packaging solutions globally, focusing on reliability and adaptability to meet customer needs. Their core values include integrity, empathy, inclusivity, inspiration, and responsibility. The brand promises reliability, high quality, and dynamic collaboration, while the Innocent archetype reflects their emphasis on safety, simplicity, and moral integrity.

Based on the workshop outputs, we crafted a brand narrative inspired by the Social Weaver birds of the Kalahari Desert. These birds build some of the largest and most enduring nests, showcasing exceptional collaboration and sustainability. Their nests support diverse species, enrich the environment, and symbolize community and adaptability, aligning with Soliflex’s commitment to robust, sustainable solutions.

This visual narrative reflects Soliflex’s principles, highlighting their role in fostering a collaborative ecosystem and mirroring the intelligence and craftsmanship of the Social Weaver birds. This approach underscores their dedication to creating reliable, high-quality products while nurturing a thriving business environment.

Design Process

We began the design process by visiting Soliflex’s factory to observe their manufacturing methods. We sought to identify visual elements in their process that could inform our narrative. The weave pattern in their bags caught our attention, and we initially planned to design a logo based on this pattern. However, the stakeholders rejected our first attempt. Using their feedback, we revised our approach, incorporating both the weave pattern and a bird motif, which the client appreciated.

To visually represent the brand values, we recreated the social weaver bird as a 3D low poly paper model. We rendered this 3D model in various poses that showcased the weaving process. These visuals effectively communicated Soliflex’s values of collaboration, craftsmanship, and reliability.

We then built the brand around this refined logo and the 3D bird model, creating a cohesive visual identity that reflected Soliflex’s values and narrative.

Outcome

Our efforts ensured that Soliflex’s brand was consistently represented across all their print and digital assets. This included transforming their factory and office spaces to align with the new visual identity. One notable project was the creation of a brochure, which effectively showcased the new branding. This brochure was instrumental in helping Soliflex reach new markets and gain the trust of their customers, receiving positive feedback from all stakeholders.
